Even though Vinohrady Cricket Club has its origins way back in the early 1900s the current club was formed in 2007 as a sister team to the then established Prague Bohemians. We are a good mixture of expats from all cricketing nations and local Czech cricketing enthusiasts and we are keen on strengthening the awareness of cricket in the Czech Republic. Our home games are currently played at the dedicated cricket field in Vinor, just outside Prague.
Vinohrady Cricket Club are members of the Českomoravský Kriketový Svaz (Czech Cricket Union) and compete in the Czech Cricket Summer T20 & 40-over Leagues as well as the Czech Cricket 6's and Winter competitions.

"Meat" our Sponsor... The Real Meat Society
A boutique butcher’s called The Real Meat Society (TRMS) was established in 2012 in Prague’s New Town. Since then, the small shop has become a popular stop for carnivores looking for meat from “happy” animals. With only three employees, the butcher’s sells one cow, some five pigs and two lambs a week that are processed from nose to tail, a concept that many Czech butchers seem to have forgotten. The Man behind TRMS...
Paul Day was born in Stafford. Some of Paul's first words were .. "more waat (baby talk for fat).." At the age of 13 Paul started to help in the local butchers shop, by the age of 20 he sold his first shop and moved to London to become a chef. He got a job in China town working as a Chinese butcher. This is where Paul amassed a huge knowledge of South East Asian ingredients and how best to use them. He was also taught, whilst working in the evenings how to roast a duck, use a wok and many other Cantonese techniques. His first proper kitchen job was with John Torode at Mezzo. He went on to work as sous chef at Nobu Old Park Lane and with David Thompson at Nahm. Asian cuisine is one that always continues to excite and fascinate him. He has worked stages in Tokyo, New York and consulted on many restaurants. Achievements

We're in an extremely privileged position that our club captain and his wife are the owner-operators of the beautiful Chateau Hostačov that is South-East of Prague. Located approximately 80 minutes by train away from the centre of Prague, the Chateau is the ideal venue for our Annual General Meeting that takes place at the end of each season.
All of the chateau chambers have the luxuriously airy ceilings and grand windows you would expect in a palace and are equipped with private bathrooms with bath and shower. They are also happy to provide extra beds into double rooms upon request, making it ideal for our family-friendly AGM's. You will find pictures of the Chateau dotted across this website and if you would like to find our more information about Chateau Hostacov, please feel free to visit their website. |
